We are growing! Come join us at Hungerford Nature Center and New Britain Youth Museum. We are hiring a Nature Center and Programs Associate. This is a part-time, weekend position. Hours are 9am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Additional weekday/evening hours may be available depending on business needs and program offerings. Primary location is the Hungerford Nature Center with occasional support to the New Britain location. Responsibilities of this role include: Leading animal programs for our birthday programs and educational activities Feeding, handling, cage cleaning and caring of our indoor and outdoor animals Organizing educational and other program materials Interacting with visitors in a positive and welcoming way Performing other related tasks as assigned by supervisor The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. The successful candidate will possess: Demonstrated dependability and reliability Enthusiasm for working with children and families Commitment to animal well being and environmental stewardship Willingness to learn and take initiative as needed. Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures and conditions. Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb stairs, and navigate outdoor trails Must have: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Be 18 years of age or older Reliable transportation Be able to pass a background check Great to have: Experience working with animals
