The Outdoor Programs team at Chewonki collectively supports team development, trips, and outdoor living skills curriculum for Chewonki programs; Camp Chewonki for Boys, Camp Chewonki for Girls, Maine Coast Semester, Elementary and Middle School, and Waypoint Mentoring Program. The Associate Director works as part of the Outdoor Programs team, specifically focusing on two areas; managing the team development curriculum across all Chewonki programs and managing the logistics that support all outdoor programs at Chewonki. The Associate Director of Challenge Course and Logistics (ADCCL) is a key member of the Outdoor Programs leadership team. Throughout the seasons, the Associate Directors of Outdoor Classroom and Leadership Expeditions will operate as a team with the ADCCL, under the supervision of the Director of Outdoor Programs (DOP), to form a collaborative and dynamic department responsible for implementing outdoor programming that is aligned with Chewonki’s mission statement and its diversity, equity, and inclusion statement (DEI), in an effort to provide valuable experiences for all participants. During the Outdoor Programs operating season (April - October), the ADCCL manages the day-to-day operations of the logistics center (Packout) as well as team development programs, including management of the high and low element challenge course.
