The Outdoor Programs team at Chewonki collectively supports team development, trips, and outdoor living skills curriculum for Chewonki programs; Camp Chewonki for Boys, Camp Chewonki for Girls, Maine Coast Semester (MCS), Elementary and Middle School, and Waypoint Mentoring Program. The Associate Director works as part of the Outdoor Programs team, specifically focusing on managing the Outdoor Classroom program in coordination with the Director of Outdoor Programs. The Associate Director of Outdoor Classroom (ADOC) is a key member of the Outdoor Programs leadership team. Throughout the seasons, the ADOC operates as a team with the Associate Director of Leadership Expeditions and Associate Director of Team Development and Logistics, under the supervision of the Director of Outdoor Programs (DOP), forming a collaborative and dynamic department responsible for implementing outdoor programming that is aligned with Chewonki’s mission statement and its diversity, equity, and inclusion statement (DEI), in an effort to provide valuable experiences for all participants. During the spring (April-May) and fall (August-October)l, the ADOC manages the day-to-day operations of the Outdoor Classroom program, primarily including scheduling and program coordination.
