Harvard University Head of Public Programs University Administration 60412BR Job Summary The Head of Public Programs is a skillful collaborator who leads a team engaging millions of annual visitors by crafting inclusive, accessible programming for diverse audiences. They are a leader who facilitates relationships across the Arboretum, other units of Harvard University, related cultural institutions, the City of Boston, and diverse, local community groups. Reporting to the Director of the Arnold Arboretum, the Head of Public Programs is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating the Arboretum's public programming. As part of its 150th anniversary, the Arboretum is keenly focused on two goals: renewing our founding promise of environmental justice in the landscape and combating climate change. The Public Programs department is central to the institution's effort to create more equitable access for neighbors and attract a more diverse set of audiences. The Head of Public Programs will play a leadership role in these initiatives to create a more welcoming culture across the Arboretum. The Arnold Arboretum is Harvard University's museum of trees, combined with world-class scientific resources, and a commitment to enhancing our diverse programming. As part of the Boston Parks system, free and open to all daily, we host 3-4 million visitors each year and were one of the very few botanical gardens or arboreta in the world not to close during the height of the pandemic.
