AmeriCorps Avian Field Technician
Short Description
The AmeriCorps Avian Field Technician will provide high-quality training and hands-on experience in avian research, conservation, and citizen science. They will be participating in and helping lead the operations of a fully functioning avian citizen science station. Technicians will also contribute to data collection, project coordination, public outreach, and site management through actively participating in a variety of avian monitoring and conservation projects including: Weekly Feeder Bird Banding, American Kestrel Nest Box Monitoring, MAPS (Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship), Christmas Bird Count, Bald Eagle Nest Watch, Bluebird Restoration Project, Northern Saw-whet Owl Migration Monitoring, and public outreach and education programs. The Avian Field Technician will also be responsible for volunteer engagement and training through the avian monitoring programs, develop educational programs, and maintain field equipment, workstations, and generic citizen science center operations. The candidate does not need to hold a federal banding permit, but the ability to be permitted is a bonus.
This AmeriCorps position is through Marshfield Clinic Health Systems Community Corps program, and Beaver Creek Reserve is the host-site.
