Salary: $410/week plus opportunities for bonuses with experience and certifications. Travel Stipend is added onto salary (determined by location you will be traveling from). Offering $200 refer-a-friend bonus if hired!
Chewonki Outdoor Educators are kind, empathetic, thoughtful, and fun adults who are responsible for caring for the health and well-being of a group of students for the duration of each program week. The Outdoor Educator position is an integral part of the Outdoor Program culture. The Outdoor Educator must be prepared to be an exemplary role model, establish group expectations and values, and have a commitment to working through all conditions with their participants, both environmentally and emotionally. The Chewonki Foundation is a camp and a school, offering place-based outdoor education to the youth of Maine and beyond. Outdoor Educators will work within the Outdoor Program department facilitating immersive overnight experiences for student groups during the spring and fall in the Outdoor Classroom program, and as Trip Leaders during the summer for Camp Chewonki and Chewonki Leadership Expeditions. Outdoor Classroom is an environmental education program that offers Overnight Trip and Leadership Expeditions for school groups in Maine and New England. Compassion for one another, building self-confidence, and stewardship for the natural world are the core goals of this program. Our unique environmental education programs offer students and teachers the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature, ecology, teambuilding and challenge, while also having fun and learning.
