Lodging & Travel

Newport Beach offers a vibrant coastal setting for the Summit. Lodging options include the official Summit hotel partner, Ayres Hotel Costa Mesa & Newport Beach, and limited on-site opportunities at the ENC.

Lodging

Ayres Hotel

Summit participants receive a special rate on lodging at the Ayres Hotel Costa Mesa & Newport Beach on Bristol Street, located four miles from the Environmental Nature Center.

At the special rate, rooms are $184 per night (for single/double occupancy), and guests receive complimentary breakfast and free parking. We will offer daily shuttle service between the hotel and the ENC.

Amenities

The Ayres Hotel offers a variety of amenities to ensure a comfortable and convenient stay, including complimentary WiFi, airport shuttle service, an on-site restaurant, two heated pools, a fitness center, and a business center.

Each guest room is equipped with a mini refrigerator, coffee and tea maker, flat-screen television, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, blackout curtains, and a desk with an ergonomic chair.

Airport Shuttle

The Ayres Hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service to and from the John Wayne Airport. Call the hotel at 714-549-0300 to coordinate.

Extending Your Stay

Summit participants can extend their stay at the Ayres Hotel and still receive the special rate for up to three days before and after the Summit. To extend your stay, you will need to call the hotel at 714-549-0300 to book your reservation — you cannot choose additional dates on the hotel's online booking system.

VW Buses at the ENC

Add a touch of adventure to your Summit experience! Five vintage VW buses are available for rent (first come, first served!) at the Environmental Nature Center. The buses are situated in the ENC's beautiful nature play area, where you can sleep under the stars and gather around a communal fire pit (weather permitting) for relaxation and camaraderie. 

Each bus is thoughtfully equipped with bedding, towels, cookware, and all the essential amenities. Limited electricity access will be provided. Buses include two full-size beds; maximum occupancy is four people. Guests will enjoy a self-serve continental breakfast in the ENC Nature Preschool kitchen and have access to a communal shower.

Booking a Bus

Each bus is available for $725. Booking a bus requires a minimum 4-night stay, Monday, August 25-Friday, August 29. There is no option to extend your stay. If you are reserving a bus for a group of two or more, please note the booking form requires the names, contact information, and emergency contacts for every individual in your group.

Newport Beach is a coastal city in Southern California known for its scenic beaches, harbor, and laid-back atmosphere. With a blend of natural beauty and urban amenities, it offers opportunities for outdoor recreation, dining, and exploration. Nearby Airports

  • John Wayne Airport (SNA)15 minutes from ENC, 10 minutes from Ayres Hotel
    • The most convenient option, located just a short drive away.
  • Long Beach Airport (LGB)35 minutes from ENC and Ayres Hotel
    • A small, easy-to-navigate airport with major airline service.
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)60–90 minutes from ENC and Ayres Hotel
    • A major hub for cross-country flights. Allow extra time for traffic when traveling to and from LAX.

Train Stations

Amtrak and Metrolink both serve the Orange County area, offering rail options for travelers from Southern California and beyond.

  • Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center (SNA Amtrak Station) — Approx. 25 minutes from ENC and 15 minutes from the Ayres Hotel
  • Irvine Station — Approx. 30 minutes from ENC and 20 minutes from the Ayres Hotel

Ground Transportation & Carpooling

Uber, Lyft, and taxis are widely available in the area. ANCA will provide resources for Summit participants to self-organize carpooling from transit hubs.
