ANCA Summit: Thrive Outside | Irvine Nature Center in Owings Mills, Md | August 1-5

Immerse yourself in the full Summit experience by staying at Garrison Forest School (GFS), just 2 miles from Irvine Nature Center. GFS is a college preparatory school for girls, K-12, as well as a coed preschool and boarding program. The 110-acre GFS campus is beautiful and provides a relaxing space for connecting with nature and with peers.

We will be the only group staying on site. Shuttles will run daily between GFS and Irvine. Breakfast will be provided for those staying onsite. 

The GFS dorms are simple and comfortable and you will have the option to choose your roommate(s) or have ANCA choose.

Reserve Accommodations


Single, double, or triple accommodations with shared bathrooms are available. Options include:

  • Single, Shared Suite Bathroom — $157/night
  • Double, Shared Suite Bathroom — $117/night
  • Double, Shared Hall Bathroom — $87/night
  • Triple, Shared Suite Bathroom — $87/night

GFS rooms will include breakfast on campus, free parking, linens and a towel, and daily shuttles to Irvine Nature Center. Rooms and dorms are air-conditioned.

Rooms require a minimum 4-night stay, Monday, August 1 to Friday, August 5. You have the option of adding Sunday and/or Friday night. Rooms are limited and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Each Student Room has:

  • A regular twin bed and mattress
  • A desk (freestanding or built in) with a chair and desk lamp
  • A dresser (freestanding or built in)
  • Wall-mounted mirror
  • Wastebasket
  • Window blinds
  • Wall-to-wall carpeting
  • Closet
  • Three or more electrical outlets
  • Voice/data hook-up and wireless access

Each Residence Hall has:

  • Washing machines and dryers in a separate laundry room
  • Household-size refrigerator and microwave in a kitchen area
  • A Keurig beverage machine (coffee, hot tea and hot cocoa brewer)
  • A "common room" with a TV and VCR/DVD combo player, Wii game system and accessories
  • An ironing board and iron and 1-2 vacuums for community use

Lodging at GFS will allow you to maximize your Summit experience — you’ll have easy access to all Summit activities at Irvine thanks to regular shuttles to the nature center, and walking accessibility to events at GFS itself. The proximity enables you to have more networking time and space in order to further develop your professional connections.

In addition to established COVID protocols, Garrison Forest School requires that all dormitory guests are fully vaccinated. You can count on an environment that prioritizes your safety and well-being, as well as that of other guests. 

GFS is also close to a shopping mall with a variety of amenities, including grocery stores, restaurants, and pharmacies.

Thinking about driving to Owings Mills? GFS is easily accessible off of the I-95 corridor, and just minutes away from highways 70, 695 and 83. Depending on your starting point, time to campus is roughly:

  • 1 hour from Washington, D.C.
  • 2 hours from Philadelphia, PA
  • 2.5 hours from Richmond, VA
  • 3 hours from New York, NY

Public Transit and Rideshare Options

Consider taking the train into Baltimore! It's about a 20-minute drive to campus from Penn Station.

Baltimore has the private car service FreedomCar. Both Uber and Lyft are readily available from BWI and Penn Station, and rideshares such as Waze are also available.

Lodging Alternatives
