Salary: $38,000 to $40,000 annually plus Paid Vacation, Retirement Contribution and bi-weekly Health Insurance Subsidy.
The Education Director assures that the Highlands Center for Natural History provides quality and innovative educational programming that is in line with the mission, core values and strategic plan of the Center. The Education Director oversees the work of two on-site Program Coordinators, the Schoolyard Habitat Coordinator, seasonal program staff and program contractors. The position works cooperatively with other full time staff. This position is supervised by the Executive Director. The position also assists the Executive Director with strategic planning, administration and fundraising. . The responsibilities of the Education Director are as follows: 1. Program Development and Leadership • Work with Executive Director to develop and expand strategic programmatic partnerships and new program initiatives. • Work with Executive Director to develop grants proposals and interface with potential donors and program funders. • Oversee the content of interpretative signs and messaging. • Work with Facility and Property Director to maintain and improve living plant exhibits/ecosystems in James Family Discovery Gardens • Assesses the completeness and scientific accuracy of all materials and programs created by the Education Department. • Oversee the curriculum development, implementation and evaluation of all school-based programs. • Oversee the program development, implementation and evaluation of summer, school break and weekend youth programming. • Oversee the program development
