The Dalton Highway, or the “haul road,” provides a unique journey into the Alaska Arctic. The 414-mile long, remote and mostly gravel road travels through rolling forested hills, over the Yukon River, over the rugged Brooks Range, and across the North Slope to the Arctic Ocean. John Rapphahn, manager of the Arctic Interagency Visitor Center in Coldfoot, will discuss how to plan a trip up the Dalton, must-see stops, and personal experiences traveling the road. Spoiler: there are almost no services but endless spectacular views. Registration required. Learn more here.
