Join us for a conversation with Stuart Vázquez, founder and director of the Eco-Lógica Magazine educational project. For more than 20 years, Stuart has researched municipal waste generation to understand its environmental impact and how we can reduce it. Understanding how our consumer society impacts the natural world (i.e. climate change) via waste products is a crucial insight for us as stewards of the planet. As a mountaineer and environmentalist, Stuart in his presentations invites us to reflect on our waste generation and learn alternatives that can reduce it. These alternatives can deepen our connection to the natural areas that we enjoy so much when we practice outdoor activities. This conversation, primarily shared in English, will have Spanish weaved throughout so that speakers of both languages have a great experience. Stuart will show us that the connection with nature and outdoor activities is deeply personal, and that consumerism doesn’t necessarily improve this experience. We can recreate without needing to spend large amounts of money. We will learn alternatives that can help us to reduce waste generation, save resources, and enjoy nature. We will talk about the way in which waste products (such as packaging and outdoor clothing), can illustrate our consumption habits. This in turn will provide us ideas to reduce consumerism and modify our lifestyles as we move toward a less wasteful system. Ultimately, this will help us mitigate climate change. If you can't make this specific date or time, you can still register and we will send you a link to view the class on your own time! All registrants will have access to the class recording for a limited time after the program. Learn more here.
