ANCA Peer CONNECTS: Hurricane Preparedness and Response

Date
Dec 08 2022

Description

Time:  10-11:30am AKT  /  11am-12:30pm PT  /  12-1:30pm MT  /  1-2:30pm CT  /  2-3:30pm ET

One of the strongest hurricanes to ever make landfall in the US, Hurricane Ian caused widespread damage across the southeastern US. While Ian had a major impact on nature center operations, we know that with our changing climate, we’ll need to adapt for more such storms in the future. In this discussion we’ll share ideas on hurricane preparation, internal and external communications before and after the storm, and what we can do to be more resilient during future hurricanes and other natural disasters.

We’ll use a “Facilitated Discussion” format where all participants contribute to the discussion and a facilitator guides the dialogue. Learn how Facilitated Discussions work here. Depending on the number of participants, we may utilize breakout rooms for different related topics.

If you have a topic you’d like to cover, please add it to this Padlet bulletin board. You’re also welcome to comment, ask questions, and ‘like’ the topics you hope to discuss. We will choose 3-5 topics based on the number of  “likes” and comments.

Cost: $10 members, $15 non-members
