Beaver Lake Nature Center Superintendent Beaver Lake Nature Center, an Onondaga County Park, located just 15 minutes northwest of Syracuse, New York, seeks a full-time, professional-level Superintendent. Beaver Lake Nature Center was established in 1970 and consists of 700 acres, including a 200-acre lake, and offers 9 miles of trails and over 400 annual programs. The yearly attendance for the Nature Center is approximately 300,000 visitors. The Nature Center Superintendent focuses on fulfilling the mission of the Nature Center: To foster local and global stewardship of nature through diverse recreational and educational opportunities that enhance visitors’ awareness, appreciation, and understanding of the natural world. Responsibilities include providing vision, leadership, and general oversight of the center and its staff; administering the budget; land and facilities management; oversight of educational and recreational programs; maintaining positive relations with the Board of Directors for the Friends of Beaver Lake, Inc., a 501(C) (3) organization whose sole purpose is to provide support to the Nature Center; and working with the Friends to develop fundraising and volunteer opportunities; The Nature Center Superintendent will be a highly visible, energetic leader who has a demonstrated passion for people, nature, education, conservation, and the environment.
